Setting up Background
Southland Aerial Photography provides a revolutionary service in Southern California. We practice high resolution digital aerial photography using a compact helium balloon system. It takes minutes to set up and less than an hour to complete a series of shots of your home, garden, pool, or family. We download photos on location, and burn them onto a CD, presenting them to you within minutes. After that, you can have them printed on large prints or send them to friends, family or clients via e-mail.

Biography
Southland Aerial Photography is run by Koral Ahmet, an archaeologist working in Redlands, Southern California. He completed a Bachelors Degree at the University of Manchester in 1991, where he was first introduced to kite aerial photography (KAP), and where he helped take aerial photographs of Roman remains in Scotland, and later the ancient city of Ptolemais in Libya. He also worked as a surveyor on the Kerkenes Dag Project in Turkey in 1993 and 1994, which has been photographed extensively from the air with a manned hot air balloon and unmanned blimp. He now works as a project director and cartographer for a Cultural Resources Management firm in Redlands. He has built several kite and balloon aerial photography systems that he uses regularly to record archaeological sites in California and Arizona.

"Most of my experience comes from working in the desert environment where I have used kite and balloon photography to record archaeological sites. The helium balloon set-up takes minutes and allows me to take hundreds of shots within the space of an hour.

I initially used  Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) but found that the wind dependency limited the times I could carry out my work. I built the helium balloon system to give me greater flexiblity, especially for the great climate we have in Southern California."
